New Template!

Posted on Friday, October 5, 2012 | 2 Comments

Hey there folks!  I know I haven't updated in awhile, but I've been busy.  I finally finished going through the rest of the houses at Horror Nights and I was in no way disappointed.  My favorite houses are Silent Hill, Dead End, Gothic, and Walking Dead, but I'm not sure which I like best because they're all really good.  If you like scary things and theme parks, I highly recommend planning a trip out to Universal Studios during October for Halloween Horror Nights.  Anyway, I have been wanting a new template on this blog for awhile and this is what I found.

It was a little tricky to get it installed through blogger and I'm not exactly sure what I think of it just yet, but it's probably going to be the face of the site for awhile.  It also had a bunch of stupid categories that I couldn't get rid of (I had to track down the CSS code and set display:none to make it go away).  I know I had the labels displayed before, which is essentially the same thing, but this template decided to put them right next to the post's date (dumb, right?).  It also had some crazy breadcrumb trail thing that popped up above the post when you clicked a specific post, except that it showed all the labels for the post and with as many as I have, some of it was cut off and it looked really ugly!  Thankfully I tracked that one down too and made it not display.

Hmm... what else?  Oh, I'm planning on making a banner for the page.  I think it would look good and not to mention a lot more professional to have an actual image, or logo if you will, for the top of the page instead of just some bland text.  The template is bland enough as it is, it definitely needs some color!  Anyway, I'm gonna let this theme sit for awhile and see what I think of it after a week or so.  There are plenty of others to choose from, but I decided to opt for a lighter theme because it's easier on the eyes... or at least that's what people tell me.

One last thing for today.  My next post, which will hopefully be rather soon since it's been awhile, will be about some armor and weapon upgrade ideas I had a few months ago for Otto's Odyssey.  I've got it all saved in a text file on my computer.  I really want to start working on the actual game itself again, but unfortunately I'm still trying to find ways to pay for my bills.  I promise once I get my money situation figured out I will again start getting serious about making this game.  A couple days ago I loaded up the latest version I have on my portfolio and really wished I had the time to work on it.  Not to toot my own horn, but the movement already feels so fluid and right.  This game really needs to get made.

Well, that's all I got for today.  Let me know in the comments what you think of the new template!  And as always... thanks for reading!

  1. I like it. Looks very simple and professional.

  2. Glad you like! I think it's grown on me, so I'll be keeping this template for awhile. I just need to make a logo and then I'll be set!
